Once you have all seven, you can then transform into super sonic by pressing the jump button while in mid-air.
In order to become super sonic, you must first collect all seven Chaos Emeralds. After a few seconds, Super Sonic returns to normal. As long as all of the other conditions are met, you must press whatever your controller’s Triangle equivalent is in these new versions. In later versions, the jump button could be pressed in the air to return to the jump button. When played with Sonic 3, any version of Knuckles has a double jump.
